Set in the heart of the exceptional historic site of La Charité-sur-Loire, the Cité du Mot is one of nineteen cultural centres accredited by the French Ministry of Culture, each of which in its own way celebrates the meeting of heritage and contemporary creation. Centred around the Cluniac priory, the Cité du Mot offers activities that combine culture, education, social links and tourism around the word, in all its forms.
Exhibitions, concerts, screenings, festivals, residencies, seminars, debates and training programmes sit alongside guided tours of the site, antiquarian book and craft markets and other events that punctuate the life of La Charité-sur-Loire, a town of art and history and a historic stopping-off point on the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela.
