The Courbet Museum
In the heart of the territory so beloved by the painter and occupying the house of his youth, the Gustave Courbet Museum constitutes the first such site entirely dedicated to the artist’s oeuvre. Complementing the permanent collection presenting some one hundred of his works, two temporary exhibitions are hosted yearly.

The Courbet Studio
Beneath a swallow-strewn ceiling, discover the only décors painted by Courbet in his Ornans Studio, built in 1860 and used up until his exile in Switzerland. This site of creation and encounters today hosts temporary exhibitions, various events and artist residencies, as well as housing a documentation centre specialized in Courbet, the 19th century and the surrounding region.

The Courbet Farm
At this cultural site occupying the old Courbet family farm, enjoy temporary exhibitions and admire the singular architecture, garden and orchard, vestiges of the original farm. There’s also a café bookshop and a diverse year-long events calendar.

The Loue River Spring and Visitors’ Centre
Situated next to the Loue River Spring, a remarkable natural site painted no less than thirteen times within three years by the artist, the Visitors’ Centre represents a rare remnant of this site’s industrial past. In the projection room, visitors can watch a film on Courbet’s attachment to the Franche-Comté landscapes and their geological particularities.

The Courbet Trails
From Ornans to the Nouailles Gorges to the sources of the Lison and Loue streams, stroll about the landscapes painted by Courbet by following these 8 discovery paths.
