Archaeological artefacts, bearing witness to the region’s occupation since the Palaeolithic period, stand alongside jewellery and goldsmiths’ and silversmiths’ pieces by Jean Després and paintings and sculptures by well-known artists such as Georges Rouault, Isidore Pils and Pierre Vigoureux.
The collection of Yao artefacts and costumes is well worth a visit. There is also an area devoted to the process of artistic creation, a subject rarely dealt with in museums.
