Musée Georges Garret

1 Rue des Ursulines
70000 Vesoul

The Georges-Garret municipal museum is ideally located at the foot of La Motte, in the heart of the old center, close to the tourist center and numerous shops. This vast 1200 m² building, a former Ursuline convent from 1680, was renovated in 1981 with the aim of bringing in clarity and sharing the space harmoniously.

The museum tour will take you from the archaeological section to the fine arts collections. You first discover the historical heritage, in particular the rich collection of Gallo-Roman funerary steles, the most important in the region. Upstairs, the painted and sculpted works of Jean-Léon Gérôme (Vesoul, 1824-Paris, 1904) invite you to enter the world of this great artist, from ancient history to the contemporary Orient.
